Ranking release dates for 16/17 season announced

November 01, 2016

TORONTO, ONT. -- With the 2016/17 hockey season in full swing, we've mapped out the release dates for our rankings for the '01 and '02 age groups, relative to the OHL Priority Selection region.

| 2001 AGE GROUP |

The crop of players eligible for the 2017 OHL Priority Selection are feverishly churning through the season, as their draft day is just a little over five months away. Prior to that date, we'll have three (3) sets of rankings set to be released for subscribers.

Preliminary Top-100: Monday November 28th, 2016

Mid-Term Top-200: Monday January 9th, 2017

Final Top-200: Monday April 3rd, 2017

These dates coincide with some rather important events on the scouting calendar, as our first top-100 will be released just after the Whitby Silver Stick in late November. That release date also provides us with the opportunity to get another round of live viewings in on the six HPHL teams at the OHL's Border Battle Showcase in less than two weeks.

Goaltenders will also factor into both the mid-term and final rankings, but will be rated separately from the players. Following in the footsteps of last year, these rankings are not a mock draft, nor will they include any bias against players with NCAA commitments.

| 2002 AGE GROUP |

The early returns on the '02 age group show that this crop is shaping up to be a rather large one up front, with no shortage of high-end forwards that also pack some serious size. That's not to say there aren't others, though, as the '02 group also has no shortage of dynamic talent that isn't quite as physically advanced. Suffice to say, it's going to be very interesting to see how this particular group shapes up over the next year and a half.

With that being said, there will be two sets of rankings published this season relative to the '02 age group:

Mid-Term Top-200: Monday January 16th, 2017

Final Top-200: Monday May 1st, 2017

The mid-term ranking will come on the heels of the Port Huron Silver Stick, which is more or less the marquee event of the bantam scouting calendar. Taking into account for league playoffs and the US 14U National Championships, the final ranking will be slated for release on May 1st.

If you haven't already, $50.00 CAD gets you access to 365 days worth of subscriber content, which includes more than 250 scouting reports in each age group, rankings, and news updates throughout the season. Pretty decent value, wouldn't 'ya say?
