Jr. Canadiens surge into 2018 with Marlboros Championship

TORONTO, ONT. -- At the start of this season, we annointed the '02 crop as the year of the superteam. Well, superteams, that is.

 

That was once again the storyline at the Marlboros Tournament, as the GTHL would wind up seeding six of the quarterfinal teams, accompanied only by 'outsiders' from Peterborough and Little Caesars 15U. With the latter two dispatched in that quarterfinal round, the Toronto loop made it an all-league affair in the semi-finals as the Jr. Canadiens ousted Vaughan, and Don Mills took down the Reps, before eventually falling 2-1 in the finale to the aforemnetioned JRC.

 

So, aside from the obvious sentiment that the GTHL is good, what did we learn from the Marlboros Tournament? Well, somewhat surprisingly, there were a few valuable lessons to be had here.
